The Longest Day: It’s Not Just Summer Solstice

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Thursday is Summer Solstice…the longest day of the year. But it’s also the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Idaho’s “The Longest Day” celebration and fundraiser.

Lindsay Meloy with the Alzheimer’s Association says it’s a unique kind of fundraiser, in which everyone can come up with their own way of raising awareness about Alzheimer’s.

“For those with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, every day can seem like the longest day,” said Meloy.  “So it gives folks the opportunity to plan an event, or attend an event others have planned, to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association.”

Meloy says the funds raised go to care and support of Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers, research, and advocacy.
