The Temperature’s Going Up…But Your Power Bill Doesn’t Have To Melt Your Budget

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Summer is going to make its presence known today, and for the next couple of months, Idaho will probably be broiling.

While that makes a lot of people very happy, high home cooling bills don’t.

Idaho Power spokeswoman Erica Shiflet says just like you turn lights off before you leave for work, you can save energy by closing your blinds.

“Close those doors and windows, your blinds and curtains, make sure that sun’s not shining all day, when you’re out of the house,” said Shiflet.  “That’s especially important on the East and West sides of your house.  The flip side to that is get those windows open in the night or in the morning, and it really helps cool you off.”
