Ron Winegar named new BPD acting police chief

Mayor McLean announced Monday she is naming Ron Winegar as the new acting police chief of the Boise Police Department as the search for a new chief continues.

Winegar is a 26-year veteran with the department, and formerly served as deputy chief.  The change will take place April 24.  Winegar will replace the current acting chief Mike Masterson, who is retiring.

The City of Boise will continue searching for a new police chief and will release the next stages of the process shortly.
