Schick-Olstolasa Farmstead
It’s a quick 15-minute drive north of Boise tucked away in the Hidden Springs Neighborhood along Dry Creek.
The Farmstead was the first in the Boise Basin in the early 1860s.
Built by Phillip Schick the area has a rich past that you can learn about here. The original buildings, home, barn, granary, blacksmith shop are still standing and you can tour the Farmhouse on Saturday’s for a small donation.
Bring a picnic as there’s plenty of beautiful willows, locust and maple trees to provide wonderful shade during a warm summer day.
Put your walking/hiking shoes to good use as there’s plenty of walking/mountain bike trails to explore and many are accessible to strollers or wheelchairs.
Make it a point to stop by and say hi to the goats and the chickens too, they love to visit with the kiddos!
The area is a definite gem and why I love calling the Treasure Valley home!
