Work begins on intersection of State Highway 44 and Eagle Road

Work began Monday night on an $8.9 million renovation to the intersection of State Highway 44 and Eagle Road.

The Idaho Transportation Department is trying to increase the natural flow of the intersection to improve mobility and safety.

CBS 2 News reports, thousands of cars travel through the intersection daily, which connects Highway 55 and Highway 44.

The Idaho Transportation Department said the intersection will be turned into what it calls a ‘half-continuous flow.’ In theory, it will allow safer passage to drivers turning left at the lights.

Most construction is scheduled from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night, with only minimal work being done during the day.

It’s estimated that the job will be finished in the fall of 2021.
