Vacation Fatigue

This past week, I had the pleasure to take a vacation to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I have to say it was nice finally being able to have some time off from a super busy last few months. While vacation is super nice, there is definitely something I call vacation fatigue that hits heavy once you return.

One thing I believe in, is working towards a vacation. I had a very busy summer, like a lot of people in the Treasure Valley, I was working multiple jobs. Along side that I am also a full time student at Boise State. Essentially, its nice to be able to take a break after a while. Work hard so you can play hard. Playa del Carmen, was definitely worth all the hard work to enjoy a luxurious beach vacation.

An all inclusive resort with free meals and drinks, 24 hour room service, to scuba diving in the big ocean blue (which I am now certified). It can be a very nice way to get away from all the stress and relax. However at what point does it become too much? For me, a one week vacation is plenty. I am a fan of my hometown and I do admit that after a week being away from home life I was ready to return.

After getting back from a vacation it feels like you essentially hit a wall. You become unmotivated to do any of the things that you were doing before you left. Having a week off and then getting right back into the thick of it can make someone easily feel frazzled and exhausted. You’d think after a week of relaxing, you are ready to get back into it, however my body feels quite the opposite.

Regardless, I am thankful to have had the opportunity to go on a vacation. It is something that I don’t think people do enough of. So if its been a while since you have had your vacation, consider taking the time to plan your own get away! After all, not every vacation has to be international. Maybe your special get away is a few hours drive to McCall or your favorite camping site! Whatever it is, you deserve a break from all the chaos, so start planning!
