Resolution Flop

One month into the new year, how’s that resolution coming?

A lot of us often make new year resolutions that are not actually attainable, and that can be for a variety of reasons. Maybe it’s because you didn’t set a plan to follow, maybe you gave yourself too many cheat days and lost motivation, or perhaps you didn’t even bother setting a resolution at all. No shame, I didn’t really set one either.

Research shows that most Americans often abandon their new year resolution plans by the second and third week of January, so if you happen to be sticking to your resolution a this point, you have grounds to say that you are better than most of your friends who probably dropped the ball on their resolution at this point.

However, if you need some advice here are a few things that can help you complete whatever resolution you have decided to set for this year.

  1. Start Small – its often times that our plans get messed up because we are trying to do too much at one time. Start small, and don’t try to complete a years worth of progress within one week. That will always lead to frustration

2. Make A Plan – It is important to set a plan as to how you are going to accomplish your goals, this will help you stay focused, and also give you a clear path as to how you are going about your resolution.

3. Set Specific Goals – Talking numbers. Resolution plans can fall apart because we don’t have a goal that we set, we can often think of good resolutions but they become too vague. If your plan is to lose weight this year, determine how much you want to lose, and what you need to do to lose it.

4. Keep It Real – Another reason as to why resolutions may not pan out is because we don’t make goals that are attainable. Stay focused, keep things realistic and achievable, focus on one resolution at a time.
