Recent documents in the Bryan Kohberger case show the State has filed a motion for the Court to reconsider its order staying time for a speedy trial.

Kohberger was indicted on four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary on May 16. On May 19, Kohberger filed motions requesting grand jury materials. The State and Defense could not agree on the scope of the materials over the following days.

CBS 2 News reports, on June 13, Koberger filed a motion to stay proceedings, citing an Idaho law allowing a party to request a stay in proceedings where there has been a “substantial failure to comply with [the applicable law] in selecting the grand or trial jury.”

On July 10, the Court issued an order for a limited stay of proceedings to toll the speedy trial for 37 days. Kohberger and his counsel agreed to the terms.
