Idaho High School Graduation Rates Top 80% for the First Time

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Idaho high school seniors are graduating at a higher rate than ever before.

The Idaho State Department of Education announced Thursday that in 2018, 80.65% of high school seniors graduated…the first time the rate has been over 80%.

The Department said 43% of districts had graduation rates over 90%, and 18 districts had 100% graduation in 2018.

Breaking down the numbers into individual demographic groups, graduation rates for black students, those who are learning English, and poor students are also up.

The trend didn’t hold up for those with disabilities. The graduation rate for those students was actually down a bit from 2017, from 60.9% to 58.5%.

So how did districts in the Treasure Valley do? The top 5 were the New Plymouth Schools at 90.3% percent, followed by Fruitland at 87.9%, West Ada at 87.3%, Kuna at 85%, and Middleton at 84.8%.
