The Caldwell city council approved the hiring of Lt. Rex Ingram for chief of police Monday.

Ingram, from Los Angeles, comes to the department as a 5th generation police officer with more than 20 years of experience.

He told council members that he’s excited to lead the department and will be sworn in on July 1st.

Meanwhile, federal investigators are still looking into the department, and Lt. Joseph Hoadley is scheduled for trial on September 19th on the charge he used unreasonable force during an arrest in March of 2017.
